Responsibilities

We are seeking a Compactor Technician who will be working out of our and reporting to the Maintenance Manager, under the guidance of our Director of Container Maintenance, but is also subject to supervision by Site Manager. This is a full time, Union, non-exempt, hourly position with schedule starting at 8:00am and ending at 5pm with a half an hour unpaid lunch break, two fifteen minute paid breaks, Monday through Friday but may vary depending on business needs.

 

Compactor Technicians are a skilled position, a mix of repairing compactors and welding , containers and compactors but may include vehicles specific to loading and material handling. Welders also assist in ensuring the operations floor is clear of obstacles as you perform general housekeeping duties as assigned. Work with other plant personnel to ensure the facility is operated and maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient manner.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor repairs and apply basic welding processes.
  • Repair compactors, containers, and
  •  
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections, diagnostic and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems on compactors.
  • Conduct safety checks on compactors and containers.
  • Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing compactors and containers, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Perform service calls for compactor repair.
  • Perform related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, notching of metal and plastic parts.
  • Perform all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Work from prints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
  • Perform standard layouts and set-ups of dimensions and tolerances.
  • Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices and equipment.
  • Perform other maintenance related work as required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience in welding processes such as MIG, stick, and torch welding on a variety of materials.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices necessary while operating or repairing compactors, containers, and carts.
  • Skill in operating tools equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of compactors, containers, and carts. Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead. 
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

Salary Range Minimum

USD $20.00/Hr.

Salary Range Maximum

USD $24.25/Hr.
