Essential Job Summary:

IWS is seeking a Financial Analyst to play a pivotal role in the NYC Market FP&A process, including financial modeling, data analysis, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing NYC market leaders with financial guidance utilizing trends, forecasts, and financial and operational performance metrics. They will work directly with the operational team to understand the day-to-day operation and impact of the new commercial waste zone (CWZ) that DSNY is implementing. They should not be afraid to challenge the market and the status quo and be a self-starter, driven for results, proactive, and able to juggle many competing priorities.

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain financial models to support decision-making processes.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze financial and operational data related to the designated market area, including revenue, expenses, profitability, and market trends. Utilize various financial modeling techniques and tools to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Operational Understanding: Work directly with the operation team to understand the day-to-day activity. Leverage this knowledge to build and improve models that operations can use to increase productivity and understand financial impacts.
  • Budgeting and Forecasts: Assist in developing and monitoring budgets, preparing financial forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Reporting: Support in preparing and updating detailed financial reports and presentations for management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., sales, accounting, marketing, operations) to gather information and provide financial insights.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting or related discipline preferred
  • 1-4 years of experience with financial analysis
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel, finance/accounting knowledge (e.g. ability to create sophisticated financial models.)
  • Experience with Adaptive Planning a plus
  • Robust analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills; ability to present and teach financial information to a non-financial audience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to summarize results succinctly, and able to perform under times of high pressure
  • Ability to operate independently and to influence across multiple organizational levels.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to multitask.
  • Strong oral and written interpersonal skills.
  • Proven expertise in spreadsheets, databases, and financial software applications
  • Strategic thinking and organizational skills
  • Attention to accuracy and detail required
  • Proven analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.

Salary Range Minimum

USD $65,000.00/Yr.

Salary Range Maximum

USD $90,000.00/Yr.
