Essential Job Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed as follows:

  • Safely drive company service trucks on site only, including hitching and pulling trailers, and being able to drive several different types of heavy equipment.
  • Review vehicle inspection reports and schedules to prioritize, plan, and implement preventative maintenance tasks and services.
  • Accurately log/document all activities: specifically accountable for filling out the Repair orders, accounting for parts, and turning in fully completed paper and computerized reports, through different fleet maintenance applications.
  • Monitor and help maintain inventories of necessary supplies and parts related to preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance related tasks including, but not limited to, walk around/visual checking, changing, and sampling fluids, checking, and changing filters, checking, and adjusting tire air pressure, measuring, and documenting miscellaneous components, parts and wear items and making small repairs, lubricating/greasing, and washing equipment.
  • Take directions from supervisors and work well with peers as a team.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and vehicle including proper care and protection of tools.
  • Follow all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks and general labor as necessary or when directed by supervisor

Physical Demands:

  • While performing duties of the job, employees are occasionally required to stand; walk.
  • sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and be able to see and communicate with others in the work area.
  • Exposure to all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate equipment and perform maintenance operations.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Frequently works in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment; subjected to dust, dirt, grease, and other liquids.
  • The ability to perform the essential functions of the position physically and mentally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The ability to report to work on a regular basis.
  • Good visual acuity to obey hand signals and to maintain logbook.
  • Meeting specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to read alpha and numeric; ability to use simple math.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule (including weekends, holidays, etc.)
  • Possesses attention to detail and take pride in quality workmanship
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as goggles, face shield and gloves.
  • Ability to work alone, exercise independent judgment, use problem-solving skills and complete jobs in a timely manner
  • Ability to lift or pull heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and work in awkward positions around equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools.
  • General mechanical knowledge and apply continuous improvement methodology to enhance standard operation procedures
