Essential Job Summary:

We are seeking an Intern for our Container Maintenance Department who will be working out of our NNJ & CNJ Market Areas. This position will be reporting to the Director of Container Maintenance, under the guidance of our Market Area VP of NNJ. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position with schedule starting at 8:00am and ending at 5pm with a half an hour unpaid lunch break, two fifteen minute paid breaks, Monday through Friday but may vary depending on business needs.

 

The Intern is responsible for performing surface preparation, priming, and painting of metal waste containers and compactors. This role plays a key part in the rebranding process, including repainting units to company specifications, applying decals, and updating tracking numbers. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in industrial painting and takes pride in maintaining the professional appearance and longevity of equipment.

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces.
  • Apply primer and paint using spray equipment, rollers, or brushes as required.
  • Match paint colors to company branding or customer specifications.
  • Rebrand containers by applying decals, stickers, and company logos.
  • Install or update tracking numbers and container ID markings accurately.
  • Ensure all painted units meet quality and safety standards before deployment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized painting area and adhere to safety protocols for handling paint and chemicals.
  • Keep accurate records of units painted, materials used, and rebranding tasks completed.
  • Assist with inventory control of paint, stencils, and decals.
  • Support the maintenance team with additional tasks as needed during low-volume painting periods

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Class D drivers license – will be required to drive company vehicle
  • Can travel to customer locations and rebrand company owned containers
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  • Be organized to receive an excel list of customers and identify what was completed and survey the status of equipment in the field.
  • Navigate throughout NJ to customer sites
  • Willing to be hands on in field and can understand our systems to track and reports
  • Work directly with our managers to report daily activity
  • Work in shop if needed to paint and rebrand
  • Ability to use Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and outlook for emails
  • Other entry level requirements may be asked at various sites across NNJ
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

Salary Range Minimum

USD $20.00/Hr.
