Must be flexiable with work schedule

The Maintenance Shop Techician/Mechanic oversees preventative maintenance and repairs for the Landfill. The Maintenance Mechanic promotes a proactive, efficient and service-oriented program aimed at maintaining the fleet in peak operating condition. They provide leadership and direction to a team of technicians, including direct supervision of technicians. The Maintenance Shop Technician/Mechanic is responsible for replacement schedules, preventative maintenance and repair of Company vehicles, as well as administrative duties such as parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking and cost control. They utilize fleet management and onboard computing software to monitor vehicle performance and cost.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee scheduling of all planned repair work to increase productivity and allocate resources appropriately among multiple trucks and equipment.
  • Execute an on-going preventative maintenance program, including identifying trends in road calls, breakdowns and maintenance needs.
  • Provide direction and coaching to others to ensure that all maintenance and repairs are performed in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to assess staffing needs, training, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with Company safety standards, as well as federal and state regulations, including maintenance of repair records and other required documentation.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems of heavy equipment and vehicles used by the Company, as well as staying up to date on changes to federal and state regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of technical experience working with class 7 and 8 CMV’s. Experience in the waste industry preferred.
  • Technical experience working with heavy equipment. Specifically, hydraulics like those found in Loaders, Excavators, Articulated Dump Trucks, etc. is a plus.
  • Prefer experience with Electrical, Air Brakes, Medium and Heavy-Duty Diesel engines and computer aided diagnostics (CAT ET, Cummins Insite, Premium Tech Tool, ect.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, Spanish bilingual would be helpful.
  • Experience with diagnostic software
  • Ability and passion for coaching, mentoring, and training employees.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of DOT CMV rules, OSHA, and other federal and local regulations and requirement
  • Excellent safety record
  • Valid driver’s license required

Salary Range Minimum

USD $25.00/Hr.

Salary Range Maximum

USD $35.00/Hr.
