Interstate Waste Services is the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country! We primarily service Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, Connecticut, with a landfill located in Ohio, where we also own and operate a state-of-the-art rail-served landfill. We cater to a diverse range of residential, industrial and commercial customers. Essential Job Summary:

  • Will perform full-cycle Accounts Payable services, including but not limited to:  
  • Actively participate and meet strict deadlines for monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures as per company policy  
  • Review of invoices for appropriate documentation and approval  
  • Coding invoices and batches based on specific naming convention instructions for different types of payments  
  • Enter invoices, check requests, and wires into Microsoft Great Plains. Ensure accuracy of coding and input particularly as it relates to expense allocation  
  • Maintain files and records (T&E, Wires, Quick Checks, and Invoice Batches) for the purpose of ensuring availability of documentation.  
  • Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies in documentation and/or financial information  
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned  
  • Assist with annual audit and processes  

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Job Duties:

  • Enter invoices into accounting systems with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ensure that data is entered in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Sorting and organizing mail for data entry.

Skills/Attention to Detail, thoroughness, organization, teamwork, pro-active, vendor relationships, PC Proficiency, Data Entry Skills, General Math Skills.

  • Excellent communication, research, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Related accounting software programs (D365 F&O, Tower, Transman)
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • High School Diploma or associate degree required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Accounts Payable  
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains is a plus  
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail  
  • 10-key by touch  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, and Excel  
  • Good at multi-tasking and meeting multiple deadlines, dependable, and can work effectively with other accounting team members  
  • Must have very good interpersonal and communication skills  
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work in a changing environment.  
  • Possess problem solving skills

Salary Range Minimum

USD $21.84/Hr.

Salary Range Maximum

USD $28.85/Hr.
