Essential Job Summary:

This position will report to NYC’s Director of Contract Compliance and support our Operations, Safety, Maintenance, Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Billing, Collections, Finance, IT, Risk, and Data teams in maintaining cross-functional compliance with NYC’s Local Law 199 & the Rules for the City of NY. The main responsibilities for this role will include serving as the subject matter expert for all CWZ rules and regulations, re/defining scalable business processes to comply with CWZ compliance and reporting requirements, structuring the CWZ compliance team’s information collection, management, and dissemination procedures, managing the work assignments & quality for all CWZ compliance team members, and consistently improving the overall efficacy of the CWZ compliance team. Much of this job will be rooted in efficient communication and requires keen skills in analytical thinking, organization, and time management.

 

Extensive experience leading teams in complex regulatory compliance is required. A successful candidate will be a professional, self-sufficient, and personable individual who works well with professionals across all functions, carries out tasks with limited supervision, and has the ability to handle sensitive information. Many responsibilities will require cross-functional collaboration, and the Compliance Manager will oversee the team serving as the central liaison to all groups.

  • Govern cross-functional compliance with DSNY’s Commercial Waste Zones’ rules & regulations by working with stakeholders to understand & adjust business practices
  • Manage the work assignments & quality for all CWZ compliance team members
  • Spearhead Action’s response to all regulatory requests and reporting obligations
  • Conduct consistent quality assurance reviews prior to regulatory submissions
  • Audit and cleanse large data-sets from various sources to ensure accuracy in reporting
  • Onboard, train, and re-train compliance team members
  • Coach compliance team members through positive and negative results
  • Develop data collection and audit procedures for key functions
  • Govern the maintenance of all auditable information
  • Review Compliance team members’ goals and foster an excellent work environment
  • Adjust existing departmental procedures to meet ongoing Rule and contract amendments
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all CWZ rules and regulations
  • Report progress to key program stakeholders.
  • Create, maintain, and disseminate a schedule of compliance and reporting deliverables
  • Analyze high volumes of data from multiple sources, identify trends, and provide recommendations for suggested actions or changes.
  • Liaise with the NYC Department of Sanitation representatives and operational stakeholders regarding CWZ program requests and requirements
  • Timely preparation and presentation of materials for key external and internal meetings involving chief executives, including preparation of reports and power point presentations for steering committee meetings.
  • Handle highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of Regulatory Compliance experience is required.
  • 7+ years managing a team of 10+ individuals
  • Previous experience working in a corporate environment with high expectations
  • Previous experience developing efficient training and onboarding plans
  • Comfortable with meeting strict deadlines imposed by regulatory agencies
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to quickly aggregate and analyze data/information.
  • Experience designing successful reporting hierarchies with various sources for information
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from different departments.
  • Ability to quickly learn and document processes/procedures.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and a strong understanding of prioritization of deliverables.
  • Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and ability to handle highly visible responsibilities.
  • High level of professionalism and ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion.
  • Previous experience in successfully delivering results within any role will be considered.

Salary Range Minimum

USD $110,000.00/Yr.

Salary Range Maximum

USD $140,000.00/Yr.
