Overview

Rail Engineer (Overnight Shift)

Monday-Friday | 7:30 PM - 6:00 AM | $25.08/Hour

Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is hiring experienced Rail Engineers to support our rail operations team.

 

  • Overnight Shift - Monday through Friday
  • $25.08 per Hour

What You'll Do

  • Operate locomotives safely and efficiently in accordance with FRA and company regulations
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip locomotive inspections
  • Switch rail cars throughout the yard to support daily operations
  • Observe and communicate radio, lantern, and hand signals
  • Monitor track conditions and report concerns
  • Inspect rail equipment and train movements for safe operation
  • Ensure compliance with FRA, OSHA, and company safety standards
  • Assist with rail yard operations and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of rail engineer, locomotive operator, or railroad experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to use tablets, computers, and electronic reporting systems
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to Sit for an extensive period of time.
  • Strong safety record and attention to detail
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
