Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is hiring experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our growing maintenance team. What You'll Do

You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of diesel trucks and heavy equipment that keeps our operations moving safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines and major vehicle systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and air systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs)
  • Rebuild and replace major components
  • Utilize computer diagnostics to identify and resolve issues
  • Complete maintenance records and work orders using fleet software
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and service calls
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant shop
  • Follow all company safety standards and procedures

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of diesel mechanic experience
  • Computer diagnostic experience
  • Experience repairing heavy-duty trucks and equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship

Preferred

  • Waste industry experience
  • Heavy equipment / "yellow iron" experience
  • Trade school certification or technical training
  • Experience maintaining refuse trucks, roll-offs, and heavy fleet equipment
